I have purchased a 2004 Terios to tow behind my Motorhome. The previous owner has installed all the hardware and supplied the steel A-frame to attach it to the Motorhome. I am not sure whether it should be in 4WD or 2WD when being towed.

According to the previous owner I put the gears into neutral, key in ACC, handbrake OFF and all is OK.

Should the 4WD symbol be illuminated when I am towing the Terios.

I don't have much experience towing heavy loads like a motor home, but 4W will always give more stability and torque. Only problem with 4W are tide curves.

Gearbox in Neutral, 4WD selector OFF, key in ACC position and handbrake off.

I tow my Terios behind my Motorhome.

frog_hollow: the system must be in 2wd as it doesn't have a centre differential.

Sorry I misunderstood. Towing behind a motor home, you should definitely keep the Terios in 2D. If it is not getting out of 4D you may have to drive it little back and forth to get it out.

Thanks for the replies. I assume that it is in 2WD when the 4WD indicator light is NOT illuminated.

Correct.
